The Under 19 Football Presentation Evening 2010

Review, Videos and Photos from the Presentation Evening

The Blyth School under 19’s football squad celebrated their highly successful season on the 11th of June at the Spartans football club. With Blyth claiming the league title it promised to be an excellent evening. Blyth had a very strong squad this year so there was fierce competition between each squad player for the individual player awards.

The event began at 7.30 without any major problems, only a slight technical issue occurred but there was no need to worry with the Blyth’s Schools Mr Beecroft on the scene. The presentation was on the lighter side and was packed full of comedy. Before the individual awards were presented, team managers Mr Savory and Mr Beecroft presented a few trophies based on some of the banter that had taken place in the squad during the season. The winners of the “Banter” awards were: Jack Patterson, who won the Minor injury of the year award for when he managed to damage the ligaments in his ankle whilst tackling a ball. Robert Oates claimed the Mr inappropriate award. Steven Greenshields grabbed the Blyth style award for his much disputed curly locks. Team captain Chris Watson won Employee of the year award for his undisputed commitment to Morrison’s supermarket. Callum Scott deservedly received the playboy of the year award. Finally Vice-captain Daryl Pentleton attained the Blyth man of steel award after his unfortunate injury which resulted in a punctured long. Thankfully Mr Pentleton has fully recovered and is once again fighting fit.

The humoured continued as footage of the “dance off” and crossbar challenge followed. The “dance off” proved to be a fan favourite with hilarious routines from multiple squad players, not to mention Mr Savory’s fine moves. The footage of both the “dance off” and the crossbar challenge can now be viewed online below.

However the laughs soon came to a halt as the much anticipated individual awards were presented. As I’ve previously mentioned the squad was really strong this year and each award could have gone to any member of the team. TheGoal of the season went to the young star Liam Gillespie. Liam also rightly won young player of the season. Todd Musgrave was awarded Clubman of the season as he un- selfishly volunteered to stand in as goalkeeper for the majority of the season. Player’s player was presented to Steven Greenshields. Finally Daryl Pentleton was justifiably awarded Player of the season. Although only the players mentioned above won the individual awards the seasons successes would have been unachievable if not for the whole squad.

All in all, the presentation was an excellent night, with an exceptional turnout and was the perfect ending to a truly great season. On behalf of all the squad I would like to say a special thank you to both Mr Savory and Mr Beecroft for dedicating their time and resources, for without them it would have not been possible to have had such a wonderful season.

SG.

The music for the dance off has been changed because the original track will not play on Youtube because it is copyright protected. Sorry lads!
