Malvins Close First School opened in 1972. The school was purpose built to cater for the population boom at that time in Blyth. The school was built for a one form entry intake and in its day was thought to be ‘state of the art’ in its design of open plan classrooms built around a central courtyard.
Malvins Close Primary School opened in 2009 in another new purpose built building. The new school has two floors, 15 classrooms, including a Nursery, a music and dance studio, large sports hall, food science room, an amazing ICT suite and large breakout areas for small group work.
The outdoor space has been landscaped to provide an ‘outdoor classroom’ with allotments and recycling areas as well as a grassed sports pitch and hard play area.
