Training School
Malvins Close works closely with a number of partners. In 2000 we were awarded Training School Status. The Training School has worked successfully with Northumbria and Newcastle Universities to develop school based training for trainee teachers. We have a purpose built Virtual Classroom where ‘live’ lessons are transmitted to the universities. The lessons are watched by trainee teachers and their lecturers. The Virtual Classroom uses an ISDN line as used in video conferencing so it is safe and secure. Permission slips are sent to parents before pupils participate in a ‘live’ lesson.
In addition the Training School offers support to other schools through consultancy, visits, work-shadowing, in-service training, video conferencing and providing documentation.
Creative Partnership School
Our school has had strong links with the Creative Partnership Programme since 2005. We have a range of artists who come into school to work on curriculum projects. Look in our gallery and you will see our ‘Lost in Landscapes’ video. Put video in the gallery A project which encouraged pupils to be creative learners using the environment as a stimulus.
