Staying safe in a digital world.
'
New technologies offer many exciting opportunities for children and the staff that work with them and we must marry up these opportunities with the responsibilities we all have to ensure that children are safe and well protected at all times.'
Chair of the Northumberland Safeguarding Children Board
Safeguarding our pupils is a top priority at Newsham Primary School. We have invested heavily into ensuring that we provide pupils and teachers with access to modern technology to support learning and teaching. We recognise that use of the internet plays a major role in everyone's lives and are also aware of the inherent risks that it brings. At Newsham we have a comprehensive policy for E-Safety which includes Acceptable Use Agreements for pupils and staff. Access to the internet is filtered and all computer use is monitored to ensure pupils and staff are kept safe. Most importantly, we educate our stakeholders in how to behave safely online and become responsible cyber-citizens.
See Northumberland's E-Safety Site for more details.
All of our children are taught specific E-Safety lessons on a half termly basis, staff and governors are E-Safety trained and E-Safety sessions for parents are provided.
